Jakarta Quarantine Diary: Day 3

3 mins read

Good morning from my Jakarta Quarantine hotel. It’s only 6 am here, and I woke up at 3 am and have been unable to sleep ever since.

Left alone with my thoughts, here are the things I’ve been pondering in the past few hours:

I’m happy. Really? Happy, and I must remember that. I want to be productive today; I want to be happy today.

I’m curious about whether my handwriting will keep getting messier and messier to the point of being unacceptable. It’s been raining for the past two days—at least, I hope it’s raining. Maybe it’s just the hotel window’s fog or morning dew.

I’m waiting for my breakfast before jumping into work. The good thing is, if I focus today, I should be done by 2 pm at the latest. Then it’s chill and TV time for me. Life is good—quiet and good. I keep repeating that, but that’s exactly how I feel.

Breakfast – Nasi Uduk, Ayam Goreng, Sambal Goreng Kentang, Telor Balado, Crackers Sambal, Croissant, Soft Bread Roll, Yoghurt, Black Coffee, OJ and Aqua

I am halfway through quarantine. And TBH, I am feeling kind of bummed and wanting a bit more time. Just a small window where I am not stressed out about work and stressing about work throughout the nights. I am always thinking and plugged – never really on a break, and that’s not good, I believe, isn’t it?

I came here thinking I would write, rest and recharge here; while in quarantine. The reality, though, is that I have been struggling in isolation. Maybe, I’ll get do it in later weeks, post-quarantine, at my parents’ house. It may be easier. I guess I will find out soon.

I don’t know. I don’t. IDK. Really.

When I was younger, I dreamed about living in a hotel – forever. From city to city. It seemed like a dream life to have; it was mine, at least. I forgot when I stopped having hotel living as a part of my dream life, but it stopped after a while.

I need a break from work, rest, switch off and more towels. At least the room service can fulfil one of those.
