I have a love and hate relationship with journaling. I enjoy reading journals (mine and others as long as they allow it), but I’m not too fond of the effort I need to muster. Also, I always write the same thing repeatedly, ━ especially if I do it semi-regularly. But man, the post-journal effect has always been cathartic that I kept going back to it even though my brain always tries to trick me there is no point to it at that particular time.
Writing this NoNE series feels rather the same.
Today, sitting down and typing this, my brain is telling me the point of summarising my month ━ it’s not that interesting, nor does it have much value compared to other travel-culture posts. But here I am, hoping to entertain at least one person who reads it later, even if that person is future-me.
More This and That…
🌴 ━ We went to Cairns, Far North Queensland, during Easter break. We spent our days exploring the Daintree rainforest, swimming on the Nudey beach, walking around Cairns markets and learning more about Aboriginal culture. I felt so rejuvenated after this trip; it was the highlight of this month. I will write more about it here soon.
🐊 ━ Also, in Cairns, we saw crocodile Lizzy in the wild. More importantly, I finally had crocodile meat in Ochre, a modern Australian restaurant by the marina. Eating crocodile meat has been on my yearly goal list since moving to Melbourne. I was so thrilled to tick it off of my list, finally. Unfortunately, the meat itself wasn’t so good. It tasted like white fish but with the texture of chicken meat. So it won’t be a repeat order for me.
🍽️ ━ We got this house on auction on the 24th of April last year, and we went to Tambo Ciak for the most authentic Padang food in Melbourne to re-celebrate. We also went to eat Indonesian food at Dpenyetz after I saw the restaurant during my dinner date with Liz at Ying Thai, Carlton.
📚 ━ I read The New Wife by Sue Watson and The Golden Couple by Greer Hendricks and Sarah Pekkanen in Cairns. I am currently reading a beautiful memoir titled Eating With My Mouth Open by Sam van Zweden with whom I am going to have a meet and greet sesh next week.
📺 ━ I watched the movie Everything Everywhere All at Once in Sun Theater, Yarraville and loved it. We also watched The Lost City in a random shopping centre in Cairns to pass the time before going to the airport, and it was okay. Lastly, a must-watch on Netflix: Deep Water, starring Ana de Armas and Ben Affleck.
I finally got to watch The Girls from Plainville on Stan ━ , a show that my true crime-loving mind has been looking forward to for months ━ , and I hated it. The show made me feel ill, though IDK why. I also random watched Anatomy of a Scandal on Netflix on a Friday evening, enjoyed it and realized that I have a major crush on Lady Mary.
I subscribed to Disney+ to watch Turning Red which I thoroughly enjoyed. I also binged on Grey’s Anatomy Season 18 on the weekend on it.
