Remembering The Last Decade South Korea

3 mins read

Anyong haseyo from the poop cafe in Ssamziegil, Seoul, South Korea. I remember coming here with Yin almost ten years ago. We had some tea and cakes. I remember chit-chatting random things, making a pact to go again to Ssamziegil with our partner to hang our love tag. The moment was one of the highlights of my first Korean trip. Today, I am here with Fafa. He’s waiting to collect our drinks order. I got a sweet potato latte because I remember it being delicious in South Korea.

South Korea

Here are some other things I remember about South Korea the last time I was here: ━

  • I remember Korea’s train lines being so complicated, and overwhelmed by it – I still feel the same way.
  • I remember FOMO-ing about Korean Universities, especially Ehwa.
  • I remember Korean being friendlier ━ but this could be because I live in Melbourne now, the world’s friendliest city ━ while back then, I Singapore was home.
  • I remember loving the heated floor and am so glad I will try it again soon during our Hanok stay.
  • I remember Gamsahamida but can’t remember how to say “delicious*” in Korean despite learning it repeatedly for days before our trip.
  • I remember trying on Black Sugar Face Scrub from Skinfood for the first time here. I am still using it as a skincare routine until now.
  • Speaking of skincare, I remember stocking up on a year’s worth of skincare back then, and I did the same thing in Myeongdeong yesterday.
  • I remember loving Hongdae a lot. I have yet to visit it, and I hope it’s as awesome as I remember it to be.
  • I remember navigating South Korea being easier before, but that could just be me being ignorant while my best friends took over the intercities travelling and finding places part.
  • I remember walking around Buckhorn Village in the heavy snow. Hopefully, it will be better weather when I visit it this time.
  • I remember cutting my hair short right after the trip, and now I understand why it’s the winter frizziness that my regular hair care is not equipped to handle.
  • I remember drinking a lot, and I plan to do the same on this trip.

Fafa is back with our drinks. Alright, I have to log off for now.
