Phi Phi Island Thailand

Nursing A Post Phi Phi Island Holiday Hangover

5 mins read

I am recovering from a post Phi Phi Island holiday hangover.

This time, we went to my favourite beach vacation spot in the entire world: Phi Phi Koh. To be fair, I must inform you I have only been to a few beaches, but still.

My Phi Phi Island trip was amazing!

We flew into Phuket, arrived at night, and stayed in a small unknown hotel to save a bit of $.

The next day, we took an 11 am ferry to Phi Phi Island. Unfortunately, the hotel I booked with my instinct was not located on the main island near the pier; it’s at Long Beach, another side of the island, which is a 100-baht 10mins boat ride away or a 45mins walk from the dock.

I was disappointed with this since I had been dreaming of roaming on the mainland and only checking into the hotel occasionally. Disappointed, and yes, lesson learned.

The Beach Resort

We booked a room with a sea view at the resort at Long Beach – called Phi Phi Beach Resort. To wake up every morning with the blue sea view is a fantastic experience! And it also made me feel much better about staying on this remote side of the island.

Phi Phi Corner Seafood

After a bit of touch-up, we went to the pier for lunch at Phi Phi Corner Seafood. Good food at a reasonable price. They have a yellow curry crab dish; it’s a must-try if you like seafood. After our drinking fest started, we played some pool. We had a heart-to-heart while the guys played pool, and then we got bored—time for a Thai massage. Massage is one of the few things glorified in Thailand. I have gotten more massages in Thailand than anywhere else in my life. I love it. They have Thai (a must-try for the first-timer), oil, aromatherapy, foot, shoulder, aloe vera, coconut, and other massages for 300 baht. People, please go for a massage. You will thank me later. Oh ya, don’t forget to tip your masseuse.

Floating in Phi Phi

Floating in happiness, the after-effect of a nice massage, we went bikini shopping. Phi Phi is filled with little shops all over the island selling bikinis, t-shirts, second-hand book shops, minimarts for food and toiletries, diving gear, souvenirs and my favourite: jewellery shops, the gemstone of sale rings. There may be a market for wedding proposals here. I, for one, would love to experience that. We then went for dinner at Tonsai Seafood by the beach. Another good choice is to have a nice meal. I went to this restaurant before, the first time I was in Phi Phi.

And I remember texting Fafa that Phi Phi is a beautiful place. I was thrilled to experience it again with him.

I didn’t tell him, he didn’t know, but I was happy inside.

The next day, we repeated the first day’s activities and did hair braiding and skinny dipping in the sea at night. Our first time, and it was amazing!

Initially, it was a bit scary, but the tiki bar played some great songs, and floating with drinks in your hand was just too good. The night sky was so beautiful that night, and I saw a shooting star and quickly wished for everlasting happiness.

The day after, we went to Maya Beach, creating the best memories – one for the book.

It was a fantastic trip with my favourite people, making me smile whenever a part of it flashed into my mind.

Next beach vacation? I am thinking of Koh Lanta.
