Nice Airbnb: The Quaint Little Apartment in Vieille Ville

Quaint Little Apartment in Vieille Ville Nice

3 mins read

I am writing to you from our Nice Airbnb. It’s a quaint little apartment in Vieille Ville, the charming old town in Nice.

I used to be a Francophile. But my trip to Paris a few years ago diminished the craziness over France. Paris wasn’t what I had dreamt of. Soon after the trip, I got rid of my Eiffel Tower necklace and poster. But I kept  Lessons from Madame Chic. It’s a fabulous book about an American student who stayed in a Parisian household and learned essential life lessons about French culture and lifestyle during her stay. She often described the beautiful Parisian apartment she lived in in the book.

It made me want to stay in one someday. And I finally got to do it on our Nice Airbnb.

Nice Airbnb Apartment

Our Nice Airbnb apartment is located in one of the old town buildings and came with a hydraulic elevator and a grand spiral staircase.

The whole apartment also oozes coziness. Even though it has one big bedroom, It has two balconies. And I am a sucker for both old buildings and tiny balconies ━ where I could write, read, sip tea and ponder about life. And I have been doing those things in the past few days. Standing on the balcony, even when it was too chilly to relax with a cup of tea ━ , soaking up the essence of French living and having a small taste of the famed culture.

Nice Neighborhood

“There is no unloved 100 years old building” – Stewart Brand. I have a feeling he said this while he was roaming around Nice.

One of the busiest streets in Nice has two Pinocchio gelateria standing opposite each other. We spent hours inside, sharing waffles (not as good as Brussels’), drinking countless glasses of rose and munching on macaroons. Our Nice Airbnb apartment is located near downtown Nice. It’s filled with hybrid Asian restaurants. Some called themselves Chinese, others put Vietnamese food, and one even mentioned Korean food on the signboards. But the food tasted almost identical; I couldn’t differentiate the chicken ananas from the chicken curry. But it was okay in terms of value for money. So much so that we ate at the same type of restaurant both nights.

Today is our last morning here. We will be vacating our beautiful Nice Airbnb in a few hours. I wish I could come back here someday. But, instead, we are renting the same place for a more extended time.
