Goedenacht and Goodbye Amsterdam

2 mins read

I didn’t plan to spend my last night in Amsterdam inside the Citizen M hotel, a walking distance from the Schipol airport. But here I am, writing to you from my hotel room which I checked into (and didn’t leave) after flying in from Copenhagen.

The hotel itself is pretty hippie and my cousin and I had plenty of things to entertain ourselves.

They have books. the School of Life books. But I am currently too engrossed with Meik Miking’s latest book, The Art of Making Memories, which I got at Copenhagen airport. I do regret not buying the cute pocket-sized The Fault In Our Star book from the same place.

Anyway, the hotel’s food was good (we had curry dinner) and they got a bar (we had plenty).

Our room had a weird shower, a transparent cylinder, in the middle of the room, which meant my cousin could see me when I took a shower and vice versa. It also came with a stuffed toy.

The hotel is semi-automated, with no-human automatic self-check-in and check-out; which if you ask me might not always be a good idea. Imagine if you just flew for many hours, across the continent, and haven’t slept for a while, would you be interested in racking your sleepy brain to understand the new-to-you system? I think not.

Talking about being sleepy makes me sleepy. Goodnight Amsterdam!
