Cup Noodles Museum Yokohama Japan

I didn’t expect to have so much fun visiting the Yokohama Cup Noodles Museum, but I did. Firstly, the Cup Noodles Museum needs more recognition than it’s getting now, especially since it’s very well maintained. Located only 5 minutes walk from the Yokohama JR Train Station, it’s a perfect place to start your Yokohama adventure.

Indonesian Cup Noodle

The thing is, however much Japan is famous for its cup noodle. We, Indonesian, are so prideful of our local instant noodle: Indomie.

Cup Noodles Museum has a few floors. On the first floor, we saw an interactive museum where we learned more about the cup noodles’ history, current happenings and future vision. The fascinating part on this floor was seeing many cup noodles made from different eras.

We then continued with the same interactive sides of the Cup Noodles Museum before going up and queuing with kids to join in designing our own cup noodles. We spent a  good hour here. Choosing what toppings we wanted in and everything. The whole environment is sterile.

Some couples keep their wedding cake to be eaten in the freezer years after marriage. Others did the same with a bottle of wine. We decided to keep our cup noodles as something to be eaten n the future. That was almost a year ago.

International Noodles Stalls

For lunch, we visited the International noodle stalls on the upper level. They had Indonesian, Thai, Malaysian, Chinese and other regional noodles. I settled with the original chicken and managed to finish two bowls. Before leaving, we went to the gift store downstairs, where I went crazy because though not as much as a black cat, I have a thing for yellow chicks, and I couldn’t resist getting everything. “How old are you, really??” Fafa teased me. Ha! He is one to talk after sitting down to design cup noodles surrounded by kids only an hour ago.

Together with Yokohama Chinatown, Cup Noodle Museum was the highlight of my day trip to Yokohama.
