After queuing for 30 minutes, we are finally seated on the first floor of Nakameguro Starbucks Reserve Roastery. I like this Starbucks, even though today I’m here with PMS and 16,000 steps already clocked. I’m feeling all kinds of meh — tired of queueing and tired of the crowd.
It’s only the fourth day of the new year, and all I can think about is that 1% of the year is officially gone. What??
The tiramisu latte is… maybe a bit too creamy for my liking. Fafa said it’s akin to hot milk. I must somewhat agree. What am I even saying? How is this even a traveller’s notebook when I’m not writing about my travels?

Maybe this is what travelling actually feels like sometimes — sitting somewhere crowded, slightly tired, watching people, and letting thoughts wander wherever they want.
I’ve been law of attractioning to work in Japan for a long time now. Perhaps the seed was planted when I first saw Japan. Idk, but something clear to me: what I ultimately want is to live and work happily in Japan.
I’m still doing my one-page-a-day writing habit. I’ve completed one page today. Now only 999 more to go. It sounds ridiculous when I say it like that.
There are so many different kinds of people in this Nakameguro Starbucks. The space feels cosy now that the evening lights are on. I can see the appeal. Maybe that’s the photographer’s eye I’m trying to borrow — learning to see from a different perspective, to notice the quiet beauty in ordinary places, to find small moments of joy hidden in the noise.
Today’s lunch was Gyudon — I think we’ve eaten Gyudon more than anything else on this trip. I’m not complaining, but also… hmm. Maybe we need to expand my food arsenal a little for the rest of the journey.
