Bali Diary Day 12: From WFH to What The Crab

4 mins read

It’s my 13th day in Bali, 5th day in Canggu, and a full moon in Cancer, aligning with The Moon card I pulled from my tarot deck earlier today. It served as an on-point reminder to release and let go. And I am ready. Ready to release the overthinking, my hectic mind, and the negativity surrounding this year.

WFH from Bali

I had to work today, and it wasn’t the kind of workday I could wing. It was month’s end, and I started at 6 am, with full steam from the Airbnb’s patio until morning hunger struck.

We ordered the same food we got the day before Nasi Jinggo Bali. I got three packets this time, one for Fafa and two for me.

Nasi Jinggo Bali

After the meal, I showered and continued working in our Airbnb room while Fafa went to Revolver Bali.

I also learned that my friend, Thu, is also in Bali until the 31st, so we made plans to meet. We just needed to figure out the logistics as she is in Ubud, and we are in the hipster-hectic-hazy Canggu.

The workday was productive, and I realized it was only past lunchtime when Fafa returned. Since I still had much to do, we ordered food online again.

Nasi Tempong Indra Bali

This time, we got Nasi Tempong Indra. It’s a boxed meal with a meat of choice, white rice, fried tempeh, tofu, and veggie Indo-style salad with a side of their signature sambal. Fafa got the duck, which he loved, and I got squid, which was not easy to eat, but the rest was delicious, especially the Sambal Tempong. I regretted immediately not buying a whole tub.

I planned to do chakra balancing, paint pottery, and get a Balinese massage after work finished, but when I closed my laptop, the sky was dark with clouds and strong wind, so I postponed all plans.

I decided to chill for a while in bed, which turned out to be a pleasant nap. A thing I cherish more and more as I get older. I was also delighted knowing I had no to-do list except for eating and sleeping after waking up. I should implement a no-to-do list at least one Sunday a month.

For dinner, we finally checked out What The Crab. It is a restaurant I have wanted to try since I saw its banner near our Airbnb.

The place was cute, the view was fantastic, and the waiter was polite. But the crab didn’t hit the mark, which rarely happens to me.

And they served us burnt Mantau. I was the cook, and knowing we were the only customers there, I would replace the burnt buns.

If I could start nitpicking, I was also disappointed by uncracked crab legs and no mosquito repellent. I know I am being extra here, and I am not usually like that, especially not for crabs—just that they could have done better. They could have added more Indonesian flavours for the crab instead of championing Singaporean Chili Crab. And the crab could be a better kind, as the meat tasted off.

We came home disappointed and Fafa bloated.

We showered and downed a package of Tolak Angin each. After this post, I will delve into the newly downloaded domestic psychology crime book by waiting on Kindle. Meanwhile, Fafa is watching some Korean TV shows.
