Here are some random tidbits that I jot down a few scattered thoughts and moments from this Europe trip—nothing too deep, nothing too silly.
Every day before dawn, my Amma messaged me if I hadn’t texted her first thing in the morning to say that I was up (therefore still and safe alive while travelling). Even when I reminded her that it’s still 5 AM in Europe, she’d still message me again the next day.
In fun lies truth.
The limited luggage size has actually helped curb my shopping desire during this Europe trip on pause.
At one point, I considered getting a big tube sage-lavender peeling massage at the hotel. It felt like a very Hungarian thing to do. But the price tag of 41,900 HUF was a bit daunting (I couldn’t even be bothered to calculate how much that is).
In Budapest, I’ve been completely ignoring currency conversions and letting Fafa take the lead on payments and money matters.
Social media can be so toxic. I know it’s a bit premature to say, but the fear-mongering about pickpockets has been everywhere online. So far, though, things seem fine here in Europe.
Every time I am in Europe, I have this urgency to cut my hair and put my clothes in the hotel laundry. I have done both things and wouldn’t recommend either. But still, the urgency kicks in after a few days in Europe.
Hungarians are proud of their recipes—you’ll find cookbooks and all kinds of paprika at every tourist stop.
Kraków is proud of its dragon and the legend behind it. They even sell dragon souvenirs and books about the story in their shops.
What are the Czechs proud of? Beer.
I’ve learned that buying souvenirs and accessories while travelling is a perfectly okay thing to do. So yes, I bought some during this Europe trip.
I think I have been to a few country towns filled with old English cottages.
Did I travel to Berlin by flight with my cousins?
Life is amazing in Europe.
