Living The Suburb Life in The Zurich Airbnb

There was only one reason we chose our Zurich Airbnb, located in the suburb – because we couldn’t afford otherwise. I spent hours researching hotels and Airbnb based in the city but had no luck.

Zurich Airbnb No.1 ━ The Quirky Little Apartment

We dragged our luggage for a good half hour after the bus dropped us off before we found our Zurich Airbnb apartment. There was no lift, and we had to lift the mega-heavy luggage upstairs. Well, my cousin did it for us. Me? I cheered and yelled affirmations at him.

Our Airbnb apartment was old but colourful and oozing happy vibes. It’s filled with books (mainly travel guides), knickknacks, drawings, and postcards. I love houses with personalities, and this one clearly portrayed the owner who was also staying in the apartment. She was bubbly, lovely, and very helpful.

Zurich Airbnb No.2 ━ A House By The Lake

Our second Zurich Airbnb (yes, we stayed in two Airbnbs in Zurich) was also in the suburb. This one was even further from the city centre. But it was in a house with wall-to-ceiling glass doors and windows overlooking the lake. So no complaints! My favourite part of the stay is that it’s a walking distance to Bürklimäärt The Weekly Market at Bürkliplatz.

Both our Zurich Airbnb stays were not so bad, even though they were in the suburbs. It’s quiet and peaceful. At times, it was too peaceful for someone like me who’s used to living in a concrete jungle such as Singapore. Also, running to chase the only bus scheduled once every 50 minutes was not my idea of sport.

Give Airbnb a try, you guys, especially if you are on a budget and don’t like hostels or nosy people.
