Paris Full of Memories

2 mins read

It’s my last night in Paris – we are going to Disneyland tomorrow.

Thanks to the books I read, the movies I watched, and the Moon River song I played repeatedly, I have always loved the idea of Paris.

The reality of Paris, however, has been both close and far from what I had been picturing in my mind.

My Paris days here have been spent visiting museums (I saw the Mona Lisa in Louvre), palaces (the Palace of Versailles is my fave – the history buff in me practically squealed when we went through the rooms) and cafes and, of course, the iconic Eiffel Tower.

But other small things happened in the past few days that I know I will forever carry dearly in my heart.

From riding (my first ever) overnight train from Amsterdam to the city of light, alternating between listening to Adele and talking to my cousin.

The night we reached Paris, we were significantly underwhelmed by the train station (and the city of love), but I was awed by our delicious-smelling blue-coloured hotel room overlooking the Eiffel Tower.

Navigating the cobblestones pavements with my semi-impractical boots.

I watched my first musical, Moulin Rouge, here in Paris!

Taking the first bite of the first-ever buttery chocolate croissant from Paul.

Being serenaded while cruising through the Seine River.

Investigating french brands’ skincare products sold in the green cross neon-lighted pharmacies.

Being enveloped by the majestic Notre Dame.

Having to pay 2 EUROs to pee on bookshelves wallpaper covered public toilet.

Ordering un café au lait at the cafe Shakespeare frequented during his time.

Feeling overjoyed for wearing a beret and trench coat.

Haggling price for a handbag in an Indian-owned stall in Montmartre stall.

Repating s’il vous plaît and merci beaucoup whenever the waiter mentioned vin.

Paris has been a wonderful experience – au revoir for now.
